Student Volunteer Call

Important Dates

AOSD 2007 would not be possible without the enthusiastic contribution of student volunteers. Approximately twelve volunteer positions are available for students who have a good knowledge of English. Knowledge of other—more exotic—languages will be appreciated.

What you get

  • Free student registration for the conference.
  • When on duty: a high chance to be assigned to the tutorials, workshops, demonstrations or other events of interest to you
  • When not on duty: free admission to all events of interest to you, if space is available

What you provide

  • 15–20 hours of work in total
  • Technical assistance for the main conference sessions, workshops, tutorials, demonstrations, spring school, aspect leadership program, student extravaganza or evening events
  • Help at the registration desk, refreshment area or wardrobe
  • Help in arranging, rearranging and disassembling conference facilities
  • Technical assistance to speakers and conference participants
  • Availability between the 11 th and 16 th of March (inclusive)

Qualifications

  • Enrollment as a full-time student during the 2006-2007 academic year
  • Proficiency in English
  • Proficiency in other languages is an advantage

How to apply

Please send your application in English by email to the Student Volunteers Chair: volunteers@aosd.net. Your application should include:

  • Short CV (one page or less). Please indicate all languages that you are proficient in (and level of proficiency). Your CV must also include a short paragraph (5 lines maximum in Courier New 10pt, 79 columns) motivating your candidacy (including any possible past experiences as a SV).
  • Contact name, phone number, and email address of a faculty member at your institution (Supervisors might be contacted to confirm the appropriateness of the candidates.)
  • A short email from the faculty member stating your involvement with AOSD and the relevance of AOSD.07 for your studies
  • Your date of arrival

In the event that your student volunteer application is not accepted, you may still register using the early registration rate. Please contact registration@aosd.net.
