The International Conference on Aspect-Oriented Software Development (AOSD) is the premier conference on software modularity that crosscuts traditional abstraction boundaries. AOSD brings together researchers and practitioners working on such software modularity in the fields of software engineering, programming languages, and software systems. AOSD welcomes cutting-edge research papers in all of these disciplines, ranging from foundational studies to industrial experience reports. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

software engineering:

  • software architectures
  • software product lines
  • aspects and modular reasoning
  • evaluation and metrics for aspect systems
  • requirements
  • testing and verification
  • life-cycle integration and traceability

programming languages:

  • formal semantics and type systems
  • concepts for modular reasoning
  • expressive pointcut languages
  • aspect composition and interference
  • domain-specific aspect languages
  • compilation and static program analysis
  • execution environments and JIT optimisations

connection to related concepts and paradigms:

  • generative programming
  • meta-programming and reflection
  • virtual classes and advanced dispatch
  • monads, type classes, etc.

applications:

  • distributed/concurrent systems
  • middleware, web services, and networking
  • pervasive computing
  • runtime verification
  • performance improvement

tool support:

  • evolution and reverse engineering
  • aspect mining
  • crosscutting program views
  • interactive development environments

Submissions will be carried out electronically via CyberChair. Papers must be submitted in either PDF format or as PostScript documents that are interpretable by Ghostscript. Submissions should be no more than 12 pages (including bibliography and any appendices) in standard ACM SIGPLAN conference format: http://www.acm.org/sigs/sigplan/authorInformation.htm. Submissions should use a 9pt size font.

The submission deadline, length limitations and formatting instructions are firm: any submissions that deviate from these will be rejected by the research program chair. Submitted papers must adhere to SIGPLAN’s republication policy. Each paper should explain its contributions in both general and technical terms, clearly identifying what has been accomplished, explaining why it is significant, and comparing it with previous work. Where appropriate, systems and experimental data should be made available on the web. Authors should strive to make the technical content of their papers understandable to a broad audience.

Once you have read the above guidelines you may begin the submission process for papers and abstracts .

The Research Program Chair is Mira Mezini (Technische Universität Darmstadt). Prospective authors are welcome to direct any queries about the research program to the chair at research@aosd.net.
