How to reach HPI

The Hasso Plattner Institute is located in Babelsberg, a part of Potsdam. Potsdam itself is the capital of the sate Brandenburg and borders directly on Berlin. In fact, HPI is literally only a stone's through away from Berlin.

Berlin has two airports: Tegel (TXL) lies close to Berlins city center and to Potsdam. It is the main international airport of Berlin and can be reached directly from many German, European and some US destinations. Schönefeld (SXF) lies a bit outside of Berlin and is further from Potsdam. It is popular with low-cost carriers and has many cheap connections to German and European destinations.

To HPI from Tegel (TXL)

  1. take the Bus X9 to S+U Zoologischer Garten (20 minutes travel time)
  2. at S+U Zoologischer Garten change to S-Bahn S7 (Direction S Potsdam Hbf)
  3. and stay on until S Griebnitzsee Bhf (25 minutes travel time)

  1. Walk from the airport to the train station S Flughafen Berlin-Schönefeld (6 minutes); shuttle buses are available, too.

    You can reach the Hasso-Plattner-Institute by public transportation (S-Bahn) from either Berlin or Potsdam. A trip from Potsdam city center to HPI typically takes not more than 15 minutes.
